St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital has welcomed a new Urologist, Dr Devang Desai to its surgical team.
Dr Desai has recently completed a Genitourinary Reconstructive Urology Fellowship recognised by American Urology Association and Genitourinary Reconstructive Urology Society with world-renowned expert Dr Sanjay Kulkarni. He has published several research papers along with gaining experience and expertise in reconstructive urology.
Reconstructive urology involves treating patients with stricture urethra due to a variety of causes such as lichen sclerosis, trauma, infection, instrumentation, radiation and pelvic fracture. Dr Desai can provide care for patients with urethral stricture disease, pelvic fracture and those who need complex urethroplasty.
Dr Desai will also be utilizing the St Andrew’s Hospital daVinci Robotic system. The procedures he will be offering utilising robotic assisted surgery will be:
- Laparoscopic / Robotic radical nephrectomy (removal of whole kidney);
- Laparoscopic / Robotic partial nephrectomy (removal of part of a kidney);
- Robotic Radical prostatectomy.
