Toowoomba Icon's Family Raises the Bar
Renowed broadcaster and sporting identity, Mr Pat O’Shea, loved his sport and entertainment. It was his passion and he devoted his life to the sporting industry, before his untimely passing in 2015 at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital.
Pat’s family were so impressed with the care provided at St Andrew’s, they have been fundraising for the Hospital last year, raising over $10,000 through the Pat O’Shea Charity Race Day. The family’s donation recently funded the purchase of Intensive Care equipment which now supports acutely ill patients requiring multiple medications.
The O’Shea family announced last week their intention to keep the fundraising going, setting a new goal to raise $50,000 for the Hospital over the coming years.
The O’Shea family donations will initially fund patient comfort and entertainment facilities, such as access to iPads, digital TV entertainment and other items to support patients during their stay at the Hospital.
“Dad really enjoyed his sport and entertainment and he would have loved the idea of supporting St Andrew’s patients to feel more at home and comfortable during their stay. We have a deep appreciation for the care provided to Dad during his illness, and we feel strongly that 100% of our fundraising should go to the patients of St Andrew’s Hospital” said Mr James O’Shea, Pat’s son.
The fundraising goal will be achieved through the Pat O’Shea Charity Race Day, Pint and Plate for Pat each year with the next event to be held on Sunday 1st October, 2017 at Clifford Park Racecourse. Tickets are already available for the 2017 Race Day, with well over half of the tickets now sold.
A Pint and a Plate for Pat Charity Race Day will be held at Clifford Park, Sunday 1st October, 2017. Tickets now available via trybooking.com or telephone Karen on 0400 852 708 firstname.lastname@example.org.
