Psychologist Fulltime: 76 hours/fortnight

St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital is a 137 bed acute medical/surgical facility which has the only private voluntary mental health unit in Toowoomba. The 16 bed mental health unit provides specialised evidence based contemporary private mental health inpatient and outpatient services. An excellent opportunity is available for a Psychologist to join the specialist multidisciplinary mental health team in our current West Ward and help plan for the new build of our 20 bed Unit in 2018.

 

The Psychologist will contribute as a member of the multi-disciplinary team providing psychological services and support to patients and clients and will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager of the mental health unit. The role will involve delivering comprehensive psychology services including planning and facilitating group and individual therapy for the:

- Inpatient Program (2 days per week)

- Outpatient/Day Program (3 days per week)

The position will also be responsible for co-ordinating the Employee Assistance Program, which is available to staff employed by St Andrew's Hospital Toowoomba.  

 

 Selection criteria:

  • Must be a self-motivated, AHPRA registered Psychologist that can demonstrate a commitment to customer service, strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience as a Psychologist in an acute care facility would be an advantage but not essential 
  • Demonstrated clinical skills and experience in conducting group and individual therapy
  • Experience working in a cognitive behavioural framework
  • Training and experience in therapeutic group leadership
  • Strong leadership and problem solving skills
